Mayor’s Christmas Message
Published on 22 December 2025
As 2025 draws to a close, I want to wish everyone in Banana Shire a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy New Year.
The festive season is a wonderful opportunity to pause, celebrate and connect. Whether you’re exploring our beautiful region, relaxing at home or sharing time with family and friends, I hope this season brings joy and lasting memories.
It’s also a time to think of those who may be facing challenges, spending the holidays away from loved ones, or feeling alone at Christmas. Small acts of kindness, like a friendly chat or lending a hand, can make a big difference. Our community is known for its generosity and care, and I’m proud to see that spirit continue.
If you’re doing your Christmas shopping, please support local businesses. They are the heart of our towns, and your support helps them thrive. For those who wish to give back, local charities and volunteer groups would greatly appreciate your help.
This year has had its challenges, but we have shown resilience and strength. Together, we’ve achieved important milestones and worked hard to make Banana Shire an even better place to live.
To everyone working through the holidays, including emergency services and healthcare teams, thank you for your commitment. And to our visitors, welcome, we hope you enjoy the hospitality and beauty that make our region so special.
On behalf of Councillors and staff, I wish you and your loved ones a safe, peaceful and joyful Christmas and New Year.
