2025 Banana Shire Australia Day Celebrations & Awards Nominees

The 2025 Australia Day Celebrations will be hosted by the Thangool Community and will be held at the Thangool Racetrack on Sunday 26 January, 2025.

With free entry from 8:30am, celebrations commence with the presentation of the 2025 Banana Shire Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony at 9:00am.

Following the ceremony, attendees can expect a relaxed afternoon of country racing, live entertainment, novelty events, and fun for the whole family.

“Presenting the Australia Day Awards is a significant occasion in our community. It’s a time for everyone to come together and acknowledge the outstanding individuals and groups across the Shire,” said Mayor of Banana Shire Council, Nev Ferrier.

Banana Shire Council received 51* nominations across 10 categories for the 2025 Banana Shire Australia Day Awards.
