Lest we forget. ANZAC day, 25th april

Banana Shire Council invites residents to commemorate ANZAC Day 2025 by attending local services to honour the sacrifices of our Australian and New Zealand service men and women. This significant national day will be acknowledged with dawn services, marches, and memorial ceremonies in towns across the Shire.

ANZAC Day services will be held at the following locations and times:

Baralaba

  • Dawn Service: 4:10 am at RSL Hall, Stopford Street.
  • March & Service: Assemble at 10:15 am in front of Baralaba Hospital; March to RSL Hall, service at 10:30 am. Smoko served afterwards.

Biloela

  • Dawn Service: Assemble at 4:00 am for a 4:10 am start at Biloela ANZAC Memorial Park, Callide Street. Gunfire breakfast to follow (gold coin donation).
  • Morning March & Memorial Service: Assemble at 9:15 am near Drakes on Grevillea St, march at 9:30 am to ANZAC Memorial Park. Service commences at 10:00 am.

Cracow

  • Dawn Service: 5:45 am at Cracow War Memorial, Eidsvold-Theodore Road. Post-service breakfast at Cracow Community Centre, Tenth Avenue.

Goovigen

  • Morning March & Memorial Service: Assemble at 10:00-10:15 am at Emily Stone Park. March at 10:30 am to Willie's Walk Park. Morning tea at Goovigen Community Hall; please bring a plate to share.

Moura

  • Dawn Service: Assemble at 4:15 am for a 4:28 am start at Moura War Memorial and RSL Club House, 30 Marshall Street.
  • March & Memorial Service: Assemble at 9:30 am in front of Caltex Service Station. March at 10:00 am to Moura War Memorial for 10:30 am service. BBQ lunch, Two-up games, and live music to follow.

Taroom

  • Dawn Service: Assemble at 5:15 am at the Taroom Post Office. March at 5:30 am to War Memorial, Ludwig Leichhardt Park. Gunfire breakfast at Taroom Town Hall after service.
  • Morning Memorial Service: Assemble at 10:15 am at Leichhardt Tree, Yaldwyn Street. March at 10:25 am to War Memorial, Ludwig Leichhardt Park. Morning tea and sausage sizzle to follow.

Thangool

  • Morning March & Service: Assemble at 11:00 am at Thangool War Memorial (Austen & Ramsay Streets). March proceeds down Ramsay Street to the Thangool Cenotaph.

Theodore

  • Morning Memorial Service: Assemble at 9:40 am at Theodore War Memorial, Neville Hewitt Park. Service at 10:00 am.

Wowan

  • Dawn Service: 5:30 am at the Cenotaph, RSSAILA Hall, Don Street.
  • Morning March: Assemble at 10:30 am at the Ambulance Station, Railway Avenue. March at 10:50 am via Pheasant Creek Road and Don Street.
  • Memorial Service: 11:00 am at RSSAILA Hall. Additional activities include smoko, a bar, and barefoot bowls at Wowan Bowls Club, Don Street.

Banana Shire Council encourages all residents to take part in these solemn and meaningful commemorations. ANZAC Day is an opportunity to reflect on the courage, resilience, and sacrifice of our service men and women, both past and present.
