Extended partnership with the AUKUS Forum

We are pleased to formalise an extended partnership with the AUKUS Forum following the signing of a Partnership Certificate at the AUKUS Forum Workshop hosted by Banana Shire Council in Moura on 30 March 2026.
The certificate was signed by Michael Sharpe, CEO of the AUKUS Forum, and Banana Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Nev Ferrier.
The workshop was successfully delivered after being postponed due to the impacts of the March Low disaster event.
The agreement extends Council’s AUKUS Forum membership through to 31 December 2028 and confirms Banana Shire Council as the host of one AUKUS Forum Workshop each year, with the next workshop scheduled for October 2026.
The updated Action Plan will focus on key growth areas including advanced manufacturing, propulsion and munitions within aerospace and defence, as well as advanced energy solutions. These priority areas align with Council’s commitment to supporting regional economic development and future-focused industries.
We look forward to continuing this collaboration and the opportunities it will bring to the Banana Shire and wider region.
