Have your say: Banana Shire launches Place-Based Planning workshops across the Shire

Banana Shire locals will have the opportunity to tell Council what they value, what needs improving and which legacy projects they would like prioritised for their community through a series of Place-Based Planning workshops held across the next month.

Running from 30 September – 15 October 2025, according to Banana Shire Council Mayor Nev Ferrier Place-based planning puts local voices at the centre of Council decision-making.

“We want to hear directly from our communities about what matters most — from improvements to everyday services through to longer-term legacy projects that grow jobs and liveability,” said Mayor Ferrier.

“Please come along, share your thoughts and hear those of your neighbours, together we can help set the priorities for your town.”

Each workshop will begin with a brief update from Council on recent achievements and funding opportunities, followed by small-group discussions to identify community priorities and potential legacy projects. Attendees will have the chance to raise local challenges that Council can resource, partner on or advocate for.

The Place-Based Plans will guide Council’s local investment, partnerships and advocacy. Feedback from these sessions will help shape capital works, community services and advocacy priorities — ensuring Council resources reflect local needs and long-term aspirations.

• Taroom — 6:00pm, Thursday 2 October — The Leichhardt Hotel

• Biloela — 6:00pm, Tuesday 7 October — Biloela ANZAC Memorial Club

• Thangool — 6:00pm, Wednesday 8 October — Thangool Recreation Reserve

• Baralaba — 6:00pm, Thursday 9 October — RSL Hall

• Moura — 6:00pm, Monday 13 October — Kianga Hall

• Banana — 6:00pm, Tuesday 143 October — Sutherland Hall

• Theodore — 6:00pm, Wednesday 154 October — Theodore Hotel

• Cracow — 5:30pm, Thursday 165 October — Cracow Community Centre

Banana Shire Council welcomes all community members to attend their local community workshop- individuals, young people, families, community groups, businesses, Traditional Owners, industry and service providers.

There is no requirement to register, please just turn up.
