The Brothers Gruchy

The Brothers Gruchy is an engaging new media exhibition that features nine key artworks from Tim and Mic Gruchy's practice. These focus on the recurring themes of human perception, artificial intelligence, synaesthesia, memory and cultural identity. The relationship between nature and our human impact is a strong thread throughout this exhibition.
Brothers Tim and Mic grew up in Bundaberg and, along with being celebrated individual artists, have worked extensively together since the mid-1980s. The Brothers Gruchy features works from their collaborative explorations in the use of video, multimedia, and performative art practices.
In a technological environment characterised by hyper-communication and social networks, the Brothers explore sensuous visions of an enhanced and rapidly changing world, while also considering its dissolution. Their subject matter ranges from familial connection to great Australian rivers; from the environmental impacts of development and industry to the degradation of the decommissioned Baoshan steelworks, Shanghai, once one of the largest steelworks in the world.
The Brothers Gruchy is a touring exhibition curated by Bundaberg Regional Galleries and presented in partnership with Museums & Galleries Queensland. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government’s Visions of Australia program and is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.

Meet artist Tim Gruchy and hear about the concepts and processes behind the works in the engaging new media exhibition, The Brothers Gruchy.
Tim and Mic Gruchy have been working together extensively since the mid 1980s. Most of their collaborative undertakings are in the performative arts. Together they have explored the use of video and multimedia in theatre, opera, contemporary dance, musicals and commercial projects

Software Workshop - Isadora Program with Tim Gruchy
SAT 18 APR 2026: 10:00AM – 1:00PM
In this workshop, you will work with Tim Gruchy to create interactive digital artwork using Isadora software. More than a program, Isadora is an object-oriented programming environment designed by artists for artists. It is very easy to learn and suitable for beginners through to experts.
Tim Gruchy has had an extensive career in multimedia digital art, experimenting with new forms as technology progresses. He now invites you to join in on the journey by creating your own artwork.
