Regional Arts Development Fund
The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Banana Shire Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
RADF promotes the role and value of arts, culture and heritage as key drivers of diverse and inclusive communities and strong regions. RADF invests in local arts and cultural priorities as determined by local communities.

Grants
Individual Professional Development Grants
Objective: To nurture the creative and talented individuals in the Banana Shire and encourage growth in their practice.
These grants are to support individual professional and emerging artists or arts and cultural workers living in the Banana Shire to undertake professional development activities located within Australia. These activities will support the participant to grow and excel in their chosen field of practice.
Activities could include, but are not limited to:
- Attendance to professional development seminars, conferences, master classes or workshops
- Mentorships or organised activities with industry professionals
- Placements with recognised arts and cultural organisations
- Travel, accommodation and associated costs with attending your activity
Grant Amount:
- $500 or
- $1000

- 15 March
- 12 April
- 10 May
- 14 June
- 12 July
Applications are due by 9am on the due date. Please allow 6-8 weeks approval process.

Community Project Grants
Banana Shire RADF Funding categories are based on the Banana Shire Local Arts and Culture Priorities 2018-20, established through community feedback. If your project does not align strongly with these categories, consider how you could tailor its delivery, or contact the RADF Liaison Officer (RLO) for more information about other funding opportunities.
1. Events and Festivals
Objective: For the provision of arts and culture activity within local events and festivals
2. Performances and Productions
Objective: To provide creative performances and productions to Banana Shire communities
3. Skills Development
Objective: Strengthen the local arts and cultural community and ecnourage growth and participation through providion of skills development opportunities. With particular focus on new and emerging artists and cultural workers.
4. Creative Generation
Objective: Foster a new generation and build a community that values and participates in arts and culture regularly by providing activities that cater for children and young people.
Grant Amount:

up to $3000 (or $5000 for significant projects involving multiple communities)

- 15 March
- 10 May
- 12 July
Applications are due by 9am on the due date.

- In the event that funding is expended there may be less funding rounds offered
- Applicants should allow up to 8 weeks for the funding application approval process. Please consider this is planning the start date of projects and activities.

RADF Assessment Panel
RADF Grants are assessed by a panel of community members and Banana Shire Councillors. Their assessments are collated by Banana Shire Council staff and a recommendation is prepared for Council approval. The Banana Shire Council invites community members to join the RADF Assessment Panel, contact us if you are interested in this volunteer opportunity.
