Training program helps residents to stay mentally fit

Banana Shire Libraries staff are very excited with the outcomes of the new Brain Training program for adults over 55 years of age.

This program is focused on keeping the brain fit and healthy by involving participants in stimulating activities such as quizzes, find-a-words, puzzles, drawing, Sudoku, and other brain training exercises.

The program was able to be conducted thanks to funding from the Banana Shire Council, State Government and the State Library of Queensland.

Brain Training is a perfect opportunity to socialize and have fun whilst staying mentally healthy.  Participants had the opportunity to record their progress, and those that completed the program received a lovely certificate and a “I trained my brain at the Biloela Library” T-shirt.

Due to the success of the program Banana Shire Libraries plan to run the program in Taroom in October – December 2019.
