Vandal dumps household rubbish on roadside

Residents are being urged to help keep our beautiful region clean and tidy by dobbing in anyone seen illegally dumping rubbish.

The call comes after a pile of rubbish was dumped on the corner of the Burnett Hwy and Dooney Smith Road, north of Jambin, on the weekend of 27-28 July.

The rubbish contained packaging material from numerous household items including a light oak Havana bed and bedside tables and charcoal Tivoli 2 seater sofa from Fantastic Furniture, a Blaupunkt television, and a black Marquee 3 piece bistro setting.

Anyone who may have any information about this illegal dumping is encouraged to contact Council on 4992 9500 or enquiries@banana.qld.gov.au or contact the Department of Environment and Science on 1300 130 372 or via www.qld.gov.au/litter or illegaldumping@des.qld.gov.au.

As no charges apply to the disposal of household waste in Banana Shire, and a waste disposal facility is located just a 10 minute drive away, this type of behavior is particularly disappointing.

The offender is encouraged to clean up this waste to avoid clean-up costs.

It is an offence to dump waste material unlawfully and fines can be issued to offenders.
