With the volume of information currently about in conventional media and on social media residents may be concerned as to the current state of Council Services.

Council will follow all Australian Government and Queensland Government directives in respect to service delivery and the coronavirus COVID-19.

Council is currently providing all services associated with normal operations. This means all public facilities remain open and essential services in place.

Banana Shire Council Mayor Nev Ferrier said Council has been assessing risks and developing contingencies in order to maintain services throughout the coronavirus event.

"As a result we believe that we will be able to maintain services throughout this period," Cr Ferrier said.

"This may change subject to directions of other levels of government or if the spread or severity of the coronavirus changes significantly, notwithstanding this residents can be confident that plans are in place and if any changes are required you will be advised at the earliest opportunity to allow you to prepare for any changes," Cr Ferrier said.
