Taroom residents urged to conserve water

Published: 1st December 2020

Banana Shire Council requests that Taroom residents and businesses conserve town water for the remainder of this week (at least until Saturday 5 December).

The hot weather over the last few days has seen a dramatic increase in town water consumption and the town bore hasn’t been able to keep up with demand.  In response, Council has commenced blending water from bore 2 to maintain supply.  However, bore 2 water is not as good quality and consumers may experience discoloured water due to higher levels of iron and manganese present.

As a precaution we ask residents to please refrain from using sprinklers, washing cars, filling pools, gardening or any activities that will use high consumption of water until further advised.

Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Council’s Water Services on (07) 4992 9500 or visit Council’s website www.banana.qld.gov.au
