Celebrating Community Spirit: Festival of Small Halls Returns to Thangool

Get ready, Thangool! The Festival of Small Halls is making a triumphant return to Banana Shire, promising an evening of music, camaraderie, and local charm that's sure to warm your hearts. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 14th, as the Thangool Recreation Hall opens its doors to welcome music enthusiasts and curious souls for an unforgettable experience.

This year's edition of the Festival of Small Halls is set to be a special one, with a lineup that's bound to captivate and inspire. Two exceptional artists, Shane Pendergast and Monique Clare, will take the stage to deliver a unique blend of melodies and stories that will transport you to worlds unknown.

Banana Shire Council Mayor Nev Ferrier said, “Banana Shire is excited to be part of the Festival of Small Halls 2023 tour. Thangool is gearing up for a great night of entertainment for our community”.

For those unfamiliar with the Festival of Small Halls, it's a nationwide musical journey presented by the esteemed team behind Woodford Folk Festival. With a legacy that spans 35 tours across rural, regional, and remote areas of Australia, this festival is all about celebrating the beating heart of our communities – the small halls. These venues become the backdrop for world-class music, creating an intimate atmosphere that's as inviting as it is enchanting.

The Spring Tour 2023 embarks from South-East Queensland and winds its way West and North, bringing the music magic to places like Roma, Jericho, and Eungella, before making its way back through Northern New South Wales. The journey is a testament to the vastness and diversity of our beautiful country, showcasing lush hinterlands, remote mining towns, and everything in between.

Shane Pendergast, a heritage songwriter from the Canadian Isle of Prince Edward Island, will grace us with his maritime folk traditions. His compositions are honest, insightful, and deeply connected to his roots. Paired with Shane is Monique Clare, a Brisbane-based indie folk artist whose cello and vocals weave a tapestry of emotions and stories.

Monique is excited about the upcoming adventure, sharing, "As a Queenslander, I feel proud and excited to be setting out on this tour and getting to know the people and communities out west and sharing some of my music along the way."

Let’s embrace the spirit of this festival. Small halls have a unique way of bringing us together, and the Festival of Small Halls is all about igniting that connection. So, grab your tickets at www.festivalofsmallhalls.com and join us for live music, friendship, and the magic that can only be found in our small but vibrant community.
